It's a pretty melody, isn't it? If you want to hear some other interpretations, recordings by Asturian folk groups Brenga Astur and Acuei are both on Youtube, waiting to be found and appreciated.

    Valerie Orth & Meli Morgaine Corri corri - also Valgame nuestra Señora

    2:41

    This is a medieval tune, an ancient dance from the celtic region of Asturias, the song and the dance are called Corri, corri but I changed the title to the chorus of the song; Valgame nuestra senora. There is no literal translation..... is something like I honor you, Lady (Goddess)
    It's about the goddess in the shape of a pilgrim, with the baby wandering through the hills. She appears to a shepperd asking for food for the baby. The shepperd only had low quality, rough bread but still he offered that & it turned into soft & high quality bread.
    Then she asked him to build a temple.... exactly like the story of the Virgin of Guadalupe in Mexico, (and so many others around the world) but thousands of miles away. The Goddess has taken many forms & impersonations in different cultures. The Goddess Mother, trying to remain in the memory of people as the real creator of all, even the creator of God. Humans should go back to their roots, into a matriarchal culture, as it was for 35,000 years ago until the patriarchal culture took over everything & crushed the power of women, since the last 4,000 years. It's my intention to bring this music & knowledge back.
    Video by: Eric Sahlin
    Lyrics

    Letra De Corri Corri

    Válgame Nuestra Señora,
    válgame la Madre Santa,
    válgame Nuestra Señora,
    Nuestra Señora me val ga. (Estribillo)

    Vi que bajaba de un cerro
    cuando a las tres de la tarde
    vi que bajaba de un cerro
    una hermosa peregrina
    con un infante pequeñ o.
    (Estribill o)

    Con un infante pequeño,
    con un báculo en la mano,
    y su madre un rosario al cuello
    bordado de quince rosas
    divididas en tres tercio s.
    (Estribill o)

    Divididas en tres tercios
    y vi que se iba acercando
    donde el pastor tenía el puesto;
    pastor, el Cielo te guarde
    por Dios y tu madre quier o.
    (Estribill o)
    (Estribill o)

    Divididas en tres tercios
    y vi que se iba acercando
    donde el pastor tenía el puesto;
    pastor, el Cielo te guarde
    por Dios y tu madre quier o.
    (Estribill o)

    Asturias, Patria querida,
    Asturias de mis amores;
    ¡quién estuviera en Asturias
    en todas las ocasiones!
    Tengo de subir al árbol,
    tengo de coger la flor,
    y dársela a mi morena
    que la ponga en el balcón,
    Que la ponga en el balcón,
    que la deje de poner,
    tengo de subir al árbol
    y la flor he de coger.
