Tim Arnold The Soho Hobo - The Piccadilly Trot

    5:56

THE PICCADILLY TROT is the NEW SINGLE from THE SOHO HOBO (Aka Tim Arnold).

    Download on iTunes:

This video was not executed by a corporation, record company or organization. What you see is extraordinary ordinary people who answered the call of The Soho Hobo out of the goodness of their hearts to celebrate and join the community of Central London.

Long before Londoners were doing The Lambeth Walk, they paraded around Piccadilly according to this delightful number by the Queen of the Music Halls, Marie Lloyd. The song itself, from that period just before WW1, refers to the ragtime style which was very much in vogue in 1912. The little digs at America were a bit of a feature of British music hall numbers, and the magnificent Marie was certainly fiercely loyal. 102 years later, Tim reboots the song to celebrate his beloved West End of London in 2014, it's first ever re-release with ska/reggae influences and a nod to the music of Madness and The Specials. Please share what is an historical event and tribute to British Music Hall and the magical world of Central London.

    LYRICS

    Paris

The best thing when I finally got to Paris
Wasn't Mary and the angels at Notre Dame
The best thing when I finally got to Paris
Were not the walks along the Rue Saint Severin
The best thing when I finally got to Paris
Wasn't music or the chocolate on the bed
The best thing when I finally got to Paris
Was holding the hand of one I wish to wed

The best thing when I finally got to Paris
Wasn't Avant Garde, or freshly baked baguettes
The best thing when I finally got to Paris
Was not Montmartre or even Crepe suzette
The best thing when I finally got to Paris
Was not the Louvre where I made a secret prayer
The best thing when I finally got to Paris
Was holding the hand of one who took me there

And all our dreams are rolling down the Seine
Will we find them once again?
'cause all those dreams, those dreams that made us cry
Can come back anytime and stay to dry your eye

The Best thing when you finally got to Paris
Was not Moulin Rouge or even Sacre Couer
The Best thing when you finally got to Paris
Was not the sound of Chat Noir begin to purr
The best thing when you finally got to Paris
Was not the pyramid you picked up in your hands
The best thing when you finally got to Paris
Was being there with one who understands

And all our dreams are rolling down the Seine
Will we find them once again?
'cause all those dreams, those dreams that made us cry
Can come back anytime, we’re love locked ‘till we die

The best thing if you finally get to Paris
Is not, what you take from view to view
The best thing if you finally get to Paris
Is what you take to Paris with you.

    365 Days of Love

365 days of love, no more, no less below, no less, no more above
365 days of love, the way you smile inside is all I'm thinking of
And I know I'm not in control anymore,
'cause I left my shield and compass at the door

But I fall in love again with you, every single day
I fall in love again with you, in every single way

365 days of love, the feeling is too much, the feeling is not enough
365 days of love, I like the bitter, I like the sweet, smooth and rough
And I know there's methods and madness in your ways
So don't go, I'd like another 365 days to

Fall in love again with you, every single day
I fall in love again with you, in every single way

And I know what you need from me
So don't think I'll ever leave
Just take one day at a time, and stay for the ride
I'll be on your side, just believe...

365 days of love, no more, no less below, no less, no more above
365 days of love, the way you make me smile is all I'm thinking of

I Fall in love again with you, every single day
I fall in love again with you, in every single way
    Every single day
    In every single way

    I just want another day...

    Go - Jocasta

    4:31

Tim Arnold's 90's Britpop band - directed by Toby Tobias

Day by day is all I see
'Cause there's nothing I can hope that's guaranteed
I don't believe in schemes or dreams
It's what happens on the way that makes me,
It makes me tired, it makes me strong, it makes me tense
It makes a lot of things but it don't make sense
    It don't make sense...

With my love in the air
    I wanted to be
A version of me, and though it seems
    I never wanted to stay
    In more than one place
    But I just want to
    Go, go, go, go, go
    Go, go, go, go, go
    Go, go, go, go, go

Hour by hour is all you get
And anything that's more just turns to debt
Live your life as you can
And just do anything you like but don't pretend
It makes you tired, it makes you strong, it makes you tense
It makes a lot of things but it don't make sense
    It don't make sense...

With my love in the air
    I wanted to be
A version of me, and though it seems
I never wanted to stay In more than one place
    But I just want to

    Go, go, go, go, go
    Go, go, go, go, go
    Go, go, go, go, go
    Go...

    I want to go
    I want to go
    I want to go

With my love in the air
    I wanted to be
A version of me and though it seems
    I never wanted to stay
    in more than one place
    But I just want to

Tim Arnold The Soho Hobo - Manners On The Manor

    6:51

'Manners On The Manor' is the second single from The Soho Hobo (aka Tim Arnold).
Produced and directed by Toby Tobias

    Buy on iTunes:

Here is the colourful and eccentric community of London's Soho, with references to legendary establishments such as Bar Italia and The French House. The song also pays tribute to Soho's original bad boy: King Charles II, all sung from the hard but fair point of a view of a Soho night club bouncer.

Shot at the legendary Ronnie Scott's, many Soho faces can be seen in the audience, including The French House's Lesley Lewis, Sweety from St Moritz, Bernie Katz of The Groucho Club, Tony Micallef of Pulcinella, Aldo Mariotti of Aldo Trattoria, Tony Saccomani of Lina Stores and Fawn James of Soho Estates. A song about Soho's community performed in front to the Soho community.

    LYRICS

    PHIL:
First up is Mr. Powell, he's always on the prowl
We don't do made to measure
    Comes the friendly growl
Tucked away on Marshall, always looks his best
His workshop is a castle for the sartorially obsessed

    PHIL & TIM:
    Tie bars, collar pins
    Watch chains, cufflinks
Knitted ties and clobber make you slobber to behold
It's not a joke to do bespoke, to make a gent of every bloke
It's a way of life they've chosen and it's true if you've been told...

They walk in style on the golden mile
They talk in style on the golden mile
Their cuts are slick and wild at your service with a smile
For your pleasure, textile treasure, it ain't made to measure
    On The Golden Mile.

    PHIL:
Next up Mr Candilio, Rafaelle to those who know
D'ya know he took this shirt in while I waited? What a pro
Next door from Mr Newell, now he's another Jewel
Cutting with the precision of a surgeon is his rule.

    PHIL & TIM:
    Alteration elation, material temptation
    Fabric creations, ridiculous, sublime
Their legend is certain, so raise up the curtain
This season there's conclusive proof that they're all in their prime

They walk in style on the golden mile
They talk in style on the golden mile
Their cuts are slick and wild at your service with a smile
For your pleasure, textile treasure, it ain't made to measure
    On The Golden Mile.
    .
    TIM:
Some of them are born to it. Mr Pearse is one I know
Each of them, a moving shaker
Not forgetting Nino's and those who began on Saville Row
    Like rocking Sir Tom Baker

Tim Arnold The Soho Hobo - Soho Heroes

    4:01

From classical to dada, for jazz and rock 'n' roll. Where a legend from the RADA played a journalist with soul...

'Soho Heroes' is the third single from Soho solo artist, Tim Arnold (aka The Soho Hobo). Tim's concept of the song was to create a musical collage in tribute to the historical figures who have each made their mark whilst living or working in Soho over the past 400 years. His artistic vision: a musical list of Soho's blue plaques. This list includes everyone from revolutionaries such as Karl Marx, pioneers like Paul Raymond, and groundbreaking artists like Derek Jarman. The song features many well-known actors quoting the 'Heroes', including June Brown MBE, Lisa Dillon and Tom Burke.

Featuring Ray Gelato on sax and a decadent and delicious voiceover by cabaret legend Peter Straker.

This is the second of 14 'Soho' themed songs from Tim's new album as 'The Soho Hobo'.

Tim Arnold - Shes Made A Gentleman Of Me

    3:56

Album track from Tim Arnold's forthcoming album 'Oaky Dokey' featuring actress Lisa Dillon

    Lyrics:

Shes Made A Gentleman Of Me

Shes the Summer light, You know I gotta take her out tonight
Im picking out a tie, Im pulling up my socks...

...till theyre knee-high, but my heart slows
I wonder why I cant think where to go
So I phone a friend who recommends
    A place she might like

cause Shes a lady, but Im not a connoisseur
Yeah Shes a Queen but Im just the King of the Kerb
Im F and blinding but she really knows her words
    Its so delicious and absurd

    When Im on ice
she knows what Champagne we should buy
And I know how to drink it till it makes one of us cry
But by the time were laughing as I pour the tea
Shes made a gentleman of me

They say I aint really with it, but theyre looking through a telescope
cause she thinks Im exquisite and you know how shes looking...

...right up close from head to toe
She sees things that theyll never know
I might have lost a little shine
But Im scrubbing up nicely this time

    cause Shes a lady,
    but hes not a connoisseur
    Yeah Shes a Queen
but hes just the King of the Kerb
    Hes F and blinding
but she really knows her words
    Its so delicious and absurd

    When hes on ice
she knows what Champagne we should buy
And he knows how to drink it
till it makes one of us cry
But by the time were laughing as I pour the tea
Shes made a gentleman of me

    Im letting my hair down
    First love takes its Bite
    I hunger for one touch
But I still say my prayers every single night

    cause Shes a lady,
    but hes not a connoisseur
    Yeah Shes a Queen
but hes just the King of the Kerb
    Hes F and blinding
but she really knows her words
    Its so delicious and absurd

    When hes on ice
she knows what Champagne we should buy

Sound enriches our lives in so many ways and today, music itself is being used in a supporting role for almost every image we see.

    In a supporting role.

But what happens when we give sound the leading role? What occurs when we close our eyes to create our own pictures instead of blindly believing everything we see?

Sound is an opportunity to harness the power of our own imagination and connect to what is deep inside of us.

Part of Tim Arnold's Sounds To Pictures project is to invite people to find their own pictures to the music rather than have those pictures prescribed for them, to discover, to explore and be free to have the sound inspire pictures unique to every listener.

Cry (Written by Godley and Creme)

You don't know how to ease my pain
    You don't know
You don't know how to ease my pain
You don't know what the sound is darlin'
It's the sound of our tears fallin'
    Or is it the rain?

    You don't know

You don’t know how to play the game
    And you cheat
And you lie. You make me wanna cry

    You make me wanna cry
    Cry...
    You make me wanna cry

You don't know how to ease my pain
    You don't know
You don't know how to ease my pain
Don't you hear all the voices cryin'?
That's the sound of the love dyin'
    Here comes the rain
You don't know how to play the game
    And You cheat
    You lie
You don't even know how to say goodbye
    You make me wanna cry
    You Don’t Know
You don't even know how to say goodbye

    Tim Arnold - Sonnet 155

    4:59

In early 2007 singer songwriter Tim Arnold wrote over 30 individual letters to Shakespearean actors, asking:

What theme in Shakespeare best described the human condition?

Replies to his letters poured in and with the help of those who have devoted their lives to working on and in Shakespeare's plays, Arnold formed the basis of what would become the album, Sonnet 155.

On three consecutive Sunday evenings (2, 9 and 16 May 2010) B7 Productions presents a unique theatrical interpretation of Sonnet 155 staged at The Almeida Theatre and directed by acclaimed theatre director, Deborah Bruce.

    4:22

I wrote 'Little London Lou' in memory of a wonderful girl whom I was very fond of. Louise Cattell died aged 21 on 2nd March 2011 from an accidental overdose of ketamine. Her spirit was one that lifted everyone who knew her. Louise's family want her spirit to continue fueling you and everyone you know, by sharing her story through this song and to raise awareness about the dangers that face young people today.

When you BUY this single, ALL PROCEEDS will go to The Angelus Foundation (Angelusfoundation.com), a charity dedicated to raising awareness of the dangers of legal highs and club drugs.

Well there's many a west end theatre
Where I have graced the stage
'cause a song or a play is just better
When the West End lights your way
From The Palladium to The Palace
    And Shaftesbury Avenue
    Curtain calls in music halls
It's just how we muddle through

But darling, was the drama exclusive
To what happened in the show?
Where d'ya go from that final, final bow?
I'm sure we'd all like to know...
