    A tribute to Alan Barton

    5:20

    ...Alan was a great person...Born in Barnsley( South Yorkshire) on 1953 - sept. 16th ... Date of Death: 1995 , march 23th

Alan was a good family man. He had two children, Dean and Lee, to his first wife Elaine, and then later when he married Jackie, he became a father to her son Mark. He was a man that loved having friends and family around him but also liked to have his own space. Music was his greatest passion and meant the world to him. He was very articulate and professional and was a great motivator of people and incredibly kind and caring. Alan had to work extremely hard to achieve the same successes most people with his talent came upon the easy way, but it was probably this that earned him the respect he had from the whole music industry.

Alan was fortunate enough to have two bites at the cherry, first with the Band Black Lace and then with Smokie, and both groups have sold millions of records around the world - there aren't too many people that have had that kind of success!

Although his life was short it was full and he never forgot his roots. He was very good person once in Norway when he were scheduled a day off at a time that Smokie were number one in the charts where they had been for the last 8 weeks. Alan went to play and sing for a group of terminally ill people in a local hospital, and he just took it upon himself to do it without mentioning it to anyone - he was just that type of guy.

They say the good die young and they aren't wrong!

If you are looking down on us Alan, then smile - you left us a great legacy to remember you by, and we all raise our glasses to you.

    - ROLL OVER BEETHOVEN - (Beatles)

Well gonna write a little letter
Gonna mail it to my local D.J.
    It's a rockin' little record
I want my jockey to play
    Roll over Beethoven
I gotta hear it again today

    You know my temperature's risin'
and the jukebox's blowin' a fuse
    My hearts beatin' rhythm
and my soul keeps singing the blues
    Roll over Beethoven
    and tell Tchaikovsky the news

    I got a rockin' pneumonia
I need a shot of rhythm and blues
I think I got it off the writer
sittin' down by the rhythm review
    Roll over Beethoven
we're rockin' in two by two

Well if you fell you like it
Well get your lover and reel and rock it
roll it over and move on up
just jump around and reel and rock it
    roll it over
    Roll over Beethoven
a rockin' in two by two , oh

    Well early in the mornin'
I'm a givin' you the warnin'
Don't you step on my blue suede showes
    Hey little little
    gonna play my fiddle
    Ain't got nothing to lose
    Roll over Beethoven
    and tell Tchaikovsky the news

You know she winks like a glow worm
    Dance like a spinnin' top
    She got a crazy partner
oughta see 'em reel an rock
Long as she's got a dime
    the music will never stop
    Roll over Beethoven
    Roll over Beethoven
    Roll over Beethoven
    Roll over Beethoven
    Roll over Beethoven
and dig these rhythm and blues

Think About The Night - ALAN BARTON - SMOKIE

    3:59

    When you close your eyes
    Think of what we had
Don't feel sadness, don't feel shame
    'Cause we had true romance

    Oh, we had it all
    A love so bright
Like a diamond in the sky
Before you sleep and dreams unfold
    Bear me in your mind

    Think about ther night
I held you in my arms
    And think about the fire
    That burns inside our hearts
    Just think about the night

Kissed the tear from your eyes
I held you close to me
You whispered this is not goodbye
I'll come back, wait and see

    Oh, we had it all
    We have our dreams
We have the heavens up above
Before you sleep and dreams unfold
    Think about our love

    Think about the night
I held you in my arms
    And think about the fire
    that burns inside our hearts
    Just think about the night

Sally called; when she got the word,
She said, I suppose you've heard
    About Alice
Well, I rushed to the window, and I looked outside
I could hardly believe my eyes,
The big limousine moved up into Alice's drive

Oh, I Don't know why she's leaving, or where she's gonna go
I guess she's got her reasons but I just don't wanna know
'cause for twenty-four years I've been living next door to Alice
Twenty-four years just waiting for the chance
To tell her how I feel and maybe get a second glance
Now I've got to get used to not living next door to Alice

We grew up together, two kids in the park
We carved our initials deep in the bark,
    Me and Alice
Now she walks through the door with her head held high
Just for a moment I caught her eye.
The big limousine pulled slowly out of the Alice's drive

I Don't know why she's leaving, or where she's gonna go
I guess she's got her reasons but I just don't wanna know
'cause for twenty-four years I've been living next door to Alice
Twenty-four years just waiting for the chance
To tell her how I feel and maybe get a second glance
Now I've got to get used to not living next door to Alice

Sally called back, and asked how I felt,
And she said, I know how to help -
    Get over Alice
She said, now Alice is gone but I'm still here
You know I've been waiting for twenty-four years.
    Then the big limousine disappeared.

I don't know why she's leaving, or where she's gonna go
I guess she's got her reasons but I just don't wanna know
'cause for twenty-four years I've been living next door to Alice
Twenty-four years just waiting for the chance
To tell her how I feel and maybe get a second glance
But I never get used to not living next door to Alice

No I'll never get used to not living next door to Alice

Songtext: (Nicky Chinn / Mike Chapman)

    Well, I was out cruisin,
getting late and I was losing,
When I saw you walkin my way
So nonchalant,I bet you get what you want,
    So do I,and I ain`t losing today.
Well your hips were swinging and your jeans were clinging,
You were driving me out of my mind.
On a hot afternoon when there`s nothing to do
You`re not the sort of thing a fellow should find.

So pulled on over, You tossed your hair off your shoulder,
As you turned and you looked my way
Ahh you would have died, you`d have skinned me alive,
If I`d said I wanted to say.
So being polite, I said Whatcha doin tonight?
You said It just so happens I`m free
You got all the right curves and all the right words,
And that`s all right by me.

Oh Carol, you got me eatin`my heart away
You got me counting my nights and days
Oh I`m floating on the milky way.
Oh Carol, nobody's done it before,
Oh baby you`ve opened the door,
Oh Carol you can do it some more

Well if you`re ready for this, when we started to kiss,
She said Hold on a minute or two
Well naturally I knew it couldn`t be me,
    I said Babe, what`s troublin`you
She said I`m not sixteen, if you know what I mean
So we sat and we talked for a while.
When we finally kissed, you know she didn`t resist
And I must say she did it with style.

Oh Carol, you got me eatin`my heart away
You got me counting my nights and days
Oh I`m floating on the milky way.
Oh Carol, nobody done it before,
Oh baby you`ve opened the door,
Oh Carol you can do it some more

Well, I was out cruisin, getting late and I was losing,
When I saw you walkin`my way,
So nonchalant, I bet you get what you want
So do I, and I ain`t losing today.

Oh Carol, you got me eatin`my heart away

Oh I`m floating on the milky way.
Oh Carol, nobody done it before,

ALAN BARTON - ALL FALL DOWN

    4:06

Tribune In Loving Memory of Alan Barton. All Fall Down by Alan Barton from the solo album PRECIOUS, released in 1991.

    Lyrics:

    Is this all a dream,
    A living fantasy?
    Do we know for sure
    What we're all here for?
Is Heaven just a breath away?
Can we open up our minds to see?
    Is our spirit running free?
Or do we all fall down again?
So tell me what is here for me
    Is there something to believe
    For us all
    When we fall?

    Could it really be?
    Did He die for me?
    I can't understand
    I just can't comprehend
    Such unselfish love

Is this all a master plan?
Are we really in His hands?
    Or do we all
    Fall down again?

So tell me what is all this for?
    Was there ever something more?
    For us all
    When we fall again

    Is it something
    That is never ending?
    So many questions,
I don't know where to begin
If we're all here for a reason,
Why am I still in confusion?

Is this one never ending cycle?
Do we have to drop to reappear again?
    Are we getting any nearer?
Is the vision any clearer now?

Is Heaven just a breath away?
Can we open up our minds to see?
    Is our spirit running free?
Or do we all fall down again?

    Are we really in command?
Is this all a master plan?
Will we all fall down again?

    Songtext: Boulevard Of Broken Dreams

    Written by Alan Silson

    Walking in the rain, I can't believe the way I'm feeling;
    Lonely once again, could it be that I'm still dreaming;
I thought I heard you talking,
But deep inside I know, this heart of mine has left me walking

Down the Boulevard of broken dreams,
Down the Boulevard of broken dreams,
You left me broken hearted, before we got things started.
Rain keeps falling and so it seems
Down the Boulevard of broken dreams,
Don't leave me broken hearted, I don't wanna be on that
    Boulevard of broken dreams.

    Burning in my heart, tells me now that it's all over;
    It's tearing me apart, feeling that I'm sinking over;
I thought I heard you talking,
But deep inside I know, this heart of mine has left me walking

Down the Boulevard of broken dreams,
Down the Boulevard of broken dreams,
Don't leave me broken hearted, I don't wanna be on that
    Boulevard of broken dreams.

    Walking in the rain, can't believe what I am seeing;
Is it you again, oh tell me baby I'm not dreaming,
'Cause I can hear you talking, no more will I be walking

Down the Boulevard of broken dreams,
Down the Boulevard of broken dreams,
You left me broken hearted, before we got things started.
Rain keeps falling and so it seems
Down the Boulevard of broken dreams
Don't leave me broken hearted, I don't wanna be on that
    Boulevard of broken dreams

    Songtext: Think About Thie Night

    Written by Alan Barton

When you close your eyes tonight
    Think of what we had
Don't feel sadness, don't feel shame
    'Cause we had true romance
    Oh, we had it all:
    A love so bright
Like a diamond in the sky
Before you sleep and dreams unfold
    Bear me in your mind

    Think about the night
I held you in my arms
    And think about the fire
    That burn inside our hearts
    Just think about the night

Kissed the tear from your eyes
I held you close to me
You whispered: This is not goodbye
I'll come back, wait and see
    Oh, we had it all
    We have our dreams
We have the heavens up above
Before you sleep and dreams unfold
    Think about our love

    Think about the night
I held you in my arms
    And think about the fire
    That burn inside our hearts

    Think about the night
I held you in my arms
    And think about the fire
    That burn inside our hearts
    Think about the night...

    Think about the night...
    Think about the night...
    Think about the night...
    Think about the night...
    Think about the night...
